I read somewhere on this site, I can't it again that you have to remove the radiator to replace the fan belt on the 508d is this correct?

No, you can do the change the belt(s) without removing the radiator.
Be aware that the alternator can be hard to unscrube.

but with removing the radiator, 4 grille bolts, 4 radiator bolts, the job is much easier in my opinion:)

as a fact , the adjustable strud on the alternator always plays tricks, it's a bugger to make it work , but when in good condition one can actually re adjust the tension on it , the actual nut is a bush and it travels over a 10 millimeter rod that bolts to the engineblock . to adjust you have to undo the top bolt on the alternator to free the adjuster bush .
it's only a reasonable job if the adjuster is in 100% state of maintenance, in all other cases the radiator out is much more easy. the adjuster needs a good clean in 9 out of ten cases ......
