what is this lever mb508
There is a lever on top of the dash board between the windscreen and the binnacle, it slides from side to side (or should mine is very stiff) what is its function

Is this in a (NATO) Ambulance ?
If so, then it controls the heater on the floor between driver and passenger seat.

yes it is an ex NATO Ambulance, are you refering to the heater ran from the webasto if so how does it work ,mine is very stiff and difficult to moveGerardM schreef:Is this in a (NATO) Ambulance ?

No, it's not the webasto heater, it is the convector connected to the engine cooling circuit that sits on the floor in the cabin, right from the driver's seat. That is at least the original position.
The fact that is very stiff to operate is probably because the control that it operates is stuck. Between the lever on the dash there is a (bowden) cable running to the control. You can find that control if you remove the engine hood in the cabin, it sits right from the engine, you can see the cable attached to it. In my case the plastic knob was worn out and the control was stuck. Not a very robust implementation of a nice design :-).
