We are pleased to announce the release of phpBB 3.2.4 "Bertie's ‘stache". This version is a maintenance and security release of the 3.2.x branch which fixes one security issue and various issues reported in previous versions.
The security issue was discovered with a new exploitation technique called Phar deserialization. An attacker with control over a founder admin account could escalate to remote code execution by abusing PHP’s default unserialization of metadata in Phar files. More information about this technique can be found here.
In order to fix this issue we’ve removed the ability to define absolute paths in the Admin Control Panel. This resulted in the removal of setting the ImageMagick path, so make sure to have the GD image library available instead. A new event to generate thumbnails was added as replacement, so you’re able to write an extension that uses a different image library to generate thumbnails. We would like to thank Simon Scannell and Robin Peraglie of RIPS Technologies for their report and responsible disclosure. The issue has been assigned CVE-2018-19274.
The fixed issues include, among others, compatibility issues with PHP 7.2 and issues with removing users from the newly registered user group more than once.
Among the notable changes are the addition of the list-unsubscribe header to emails sent by phpBB and the ability to reset your password without entering the username.

There is a new version 3.2.8. It fixes one bug I caught about the same time the extension review team found it that caused digests to fail when a digest was requested to include a table of contents.
Also fixed the Unicode bug found by whocarez. Great analysis! When examining this code I realized it could be made more efficient, so now it loads the post text into a document tree only once.
I removed fancy language file changes that used sprintf() to embed certain dynamic information, mostly out of laziness. I'm sure it can be done the way the extension review team wants but it was more of a challenge than I wanted to take on considering I was using the $display_vars approach to showing fields and help information in the ACP. Laziness and some exasperation with bugs in the migrator in phpBB 3.2.2 also prompted me to remove code that used to work that removed modules for digests left over in the database if the digests mod was installed previously. These modules should be manually removed before installing the extensions using instructions in the README.md to avoid a likely installation error.

The new phpBB 3.3 Proteus builds upon 3.2 Rhea and is a big step towards a more modern base while maintaining a clear update path. It is now shipped with Symfony 3.4, Twig 2, and jQuery 3.4. The improvements include, among others, support for Invisible reCAPTCHA, Argon2i and Argon2id password hashing, improved reset password functionality, and minor changes to the UI.
The minimum supported PHP version has been increased to PHP 7.1.3 while support for PHP 7.3 and PHP 7.4 has been added. Fixed security issues in 3.2.9 are part of this release as well.

Bij de upgrade van PHPBB van 3.3.0 naar 3.3.3 is er van alles misgegaan.
Gelukkig is Danny van PHPBBSERVICE.NL er in geslaagd het forum te repareren, zonder dat er ook maar één post verloren is gegaan. Hulde!!!
En passant heeft hij ook versie 3.3.4 geïnstalleerd.

Dat ging super-gladjes. Was in drie minuten gebeurd.
Bij de introductie, vorige maand:
Zojuist heeft het phpBB team de nieuwe phpBB versies 3.3.5 "Ich bin ein Bertie" uitgebracht. Deze versie is onderhoudsreleases voor de 3.3.x branche.
Met deze release is de compatibiliteit met php8 verbeterd, en diverse issues met betrekking tot upgrading van en converteren naar phpBB opgelost. Er is ook een bug opgelost waarbij onzichtbare UTF-8 tekens gebruikt konden worden in gebruikersnamen, waardoor verwarring kon onstaan tussen gebruikersnamen.
Zoals altijd is de volledige lijst met veranderen te vinden in de changelog bestanden in de docs map van het releasepakket. De highlights hiervan zijn te vinden in de phpBB.com mededeling. Ook een volledige lijst van alle opgeloste problemen is te vinden in de bug tracker.
De pakketten om deze versies te downloaden samen met de Nederlandse vertaling zullen zeer binnenkort op onze Downloads pagina beschikbaar worden. Wanneer dit het geval is zullen wij dat laten weten middels een reactie op dit bericht.

Ik doe m'n best. Ik houd in elk geval de techniek up-to-date. Maar... er zijn weinig bezoekers, de laatste tijd. Misschien zijn de "oude busjes" aan het uitsterven. Of misschien zijn alle voorkomende problemen al besproken

zou zomaar kunnen, ik zie in elk geval zelden meer oude busjes rijden.
En als het er één is, is het vaak een VW Transporter, en daar zijn weer andere fora voor.

Busjes nemen niet af hoor, bij die maffe DBBL club blijft het ledenaantal maar groeien, zitten ergens tegen de 2500 aan nu.

Deze oude bus is er nog steeds hoor, maar sins we in friesland wonen gaan we niet zo vaak meer weg. Nog veel te doen aan het huis en daar mijn gezondheid te wensen overlaat (atrose) moet ik het rustig aan doen. En ja veel meldingen zijn er hier ook niet zo veel meer helaas. Tevens veel bezig met mijn modelbouw hobby.

Detlev, leuk (voor ze) dat Dubbellucht het zo goed doet. De onderdelenvoorziening zal langzamerhand wel steeds essentiëler worden... En wat dat besturen betreft: ik ben al geweest!
Peter, wat akelig dat de artrose je parten speelt! Is die bovenop de hoofdpijnen gekomen? Vrouwenparochie ligt maar 65 km van Haulerwijk, dus we moeten toch maar een keertje langskomen....

Hoi Ernst,
Van de hoofdpijnen (clusters) heb ik gelukkig geen last meer (afkloppen klop klop). Door mijn werk in het verleden ben ik behoorlijk versleten wat nogal wat ongemakken veroorzaakt. Dat ouder worden is het probleem niet, de klachten wel.
Dat langs komen kan maar in overleg a.u.b.

We are pleased to announce the release of phpBB 3.3.10 “The Way of Bertie”. This version is a maintenance release of the 3.3.x branch which improves support for PHP 8.2, and resolves various issues reported in previous versions.
Previous versions of phpBB started showing a “broken image” icon next to the browser’s fallback emoji due to the service of the Emoji Content Delivery Network (CDN) being shut down. In order to resolve this, the emoji CDN has been replaced alongside other fixes which include improved handling of errors while using the Spamhaus blocklist, and proper handling of emojis when adding feedback in the Moderator Control Panel (MCP).
In addition to this, we have improved support for the use of reCAPTCHA for countries where the main domain might not be accessible, and the explanation of the ACP setting for allowing the “usage of third party content delivery networks” has been improved.
Further hardening has been added to the cron redirect to prevent exceptions from being left unhandled.
Thanks to recent changes to the phpBB repository on GitHub, contributing to phpBB has become easier than ever with the support of GitHub Codespaces. Check out our blog post on how to use GitHub Codespaces with phpBB or find out more on GitHub.

Er eindelijk even voor gaan zitten.... het logo ("Pannenhilfe") is terug!
In de nieuwere versies van phpBB zijn plaatsen en namen van bestanden allemaal anders, dus het was even puzzelen. Blij dat het gelukt is!

En met een nieuw geïnstalleerde extensie moet ook het site_logo in de toekomst met een paar klikken hersteld kunnen worden. Dat was altijd úren puzzelen....
